Wiener Dog Parade Kicks Off New Year's Festivities

At noon today world famous Duval Street in Key West will be host to around 125 wiener dogs aka dachshunds, many of which will be wearing costumes. A supply wagon will follow the dogs with water, plastic bags for cleanup and transportation for dogs that get tired. The parade will be brief due to their short legs.

Key West Resident Wins Florida Lotto Jackpot

Mary Ambroise, 39, of Key West, was the winner of the December 19, $13 million FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot. Ambroise chose the one-time, lump-sum payment for her winnings in the amount of $7,830,450.33.

The winning FLORIDA LOTTO Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Tom Thumb, located at 5515 Overseas Highway in Marathon. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $35,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. The winning numbers were 06-08-11-16-17-48 and the XTRA multiplier was 3. Ambroise is the 4th FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winner to purchase a winning ticket in Monroe County.

Key West Named A Top Destinatin For New Year's Eve Party

Priceline.com  released its 6th annual list of top 50 destinations for ringing in the New Year. For the 5th year in a row, Las Vegas is the #1 spot. Florida cities that made the list are Ft Lauderdale, Miami, and Key West.

To compile the list, priceline.com looked at a sampling of more than 30,000 Name Your Own Price(R) hotel room booking requests made by priceline.com customers for the New Year's holiday.
